Bedroom music for contact microphone, loose 1/8” jack, mixing board and effects. In this work I broke away from the crude but always structured constructions found in my previous recordings, in order to focus on matters of colour in sustained sound and on imperceptible interactions with the recording space.
Recorded as a series of events, each part picking up from where the previous left off, the music is weaved using excessive hiss, subtle feedback and live processing to create waves of ever-present noise. As rough as its material might first seem, the work is primarily a conscious exercise in direct emotional involvement, away from the studied abstraction I have employed until now. The cluttered sounds contained therein are ultimately meant to envelop the listener's space and to generally draw out reactions that are as removed from an analytical approach as this can be possible.
